East and West egg both represent the idea of the unreachable American Dream. The residents of these make believe societies are living a corrupt idea of the American Dream.
The American Dream
East Egg is known as  ‘old money’ because the citizens that live have inherited all of their families money and have not had to work hard for it. People that occupy West Egg are called ‘new money’ because they have work for their money to get to where they are now.

The Valley of Ashes is the part of New York, where a the poor workers live. The Valley of ashes represents how the residents live the version of the failed American Dream. Through out the novel we are presented to the fact that the valley of ashes is a place of hopeful, innocent individuals trying to reach their ideal goal, their inspiration, the American Dream. The American Dream is a saying and belief where people believe that if you work hard enough you will be rewarded with wealth, status and a happy fulfilled life. However in the Valley of Ashes this dream is never going to be a reality for the residents because they have worked hard all of their life but yet they still live in the Valley of Ashes and are still dreaming about what could happen if they work hat little bit harder.
The Valley of Ashes is “a fantastic farm where ashes grow like wheat into ridges and hills and grotesque gardens”. The workers are “ash-grey men, who move dimly and already crumbling through the powdery air.” The ashes represent death and realization of the impossible American Dream, as more people come to the conclusion that the American Dream is never going to happen this adds to the pile of people that are never going to go anywhere and achieve anything. The men that work tirelessly

Check your sentence construction- it is long in places. Try not to cram too much into each sentence.
